In the face of this pandemic, many other universities within the nation have begun transitioning to a pass/fail grading system for all courses. These schools have recognized that students now have limited access to educational resources, and understand the emotional, mental, and physical toll this virus has had. The reality is that this situation will only get worse before it gets better, and there’s no saying when it will be better. 

Students everywhere are struggling, and not a single one of us signed up for online education. Many people have difficulty learning in an online environment, and to put a letter grade on our efforts when we were not prepared for such a transition is unfair. Our lives have been flipped upside down, and we deserve better treatment than this. With that said, we are calling for Stony Brook University to change to a pass/fail system for this semester.
