We are living in a very different time, and with 97% of classes online it’s almost a slap in the face to be expected to pay full price for parking pass this semester. Some people have classes completely online and would just like to use some campus facilities such as the library or editing bays in IRC for a few hours a week and other have one to two classes at the most actually in person. This leads to an overall less populated campus leaving the lots almost empty at all hours of the day, completely undermining the need for a parking pass in the first place. Also due to the pandemic not everyone is as financially sound as they were pre-COVID and over $80 for a sticker that will be used for less then 5 hours a week is an expense that just doesn’t make sense. This is an obvious cash grab attempt on behalf of the college and quite frankly it’s quite insulting that they think we will actually pay for one. Myself like most others purchased a parking pass for last semester which was used for two months before the pandemic begun so why should I have to pay for another one that’s not going to get used. Sign this petition and hopefully we can actually accomplish something half thought out in response to returning back to campus during this pandemic.
