Keep Fredonia Students Safe: Allow students to park in lots outside residence halls

"In two separate incidents during the early morning hours of October 4, 2021, Fredonia students were approached and assaulted on our campus by an unidentified male. The incidents, which occurred at 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., were similar in that the male suspect approached the victims and assaulted them, attempting to remove their clothing. We are grateful that in both cases, the victims quickly and successfully fought off the attacker and were not physically injured. Both incidents occurred in the vicinity of Ring Road and Park Drive."
STOP making students walk across campus in the wake of these attacks. Allow overnight parking in all lots outside of residence halls, at least for the time being.
Young girls are being attacked on our campus, and to leave the safety of students solely to themselves is irresponsible and dangerous. Temporarily changing the campus parking regulations is a small step toward fixing the issue, but would be the best step to take, in our opinion.
