The toll system unfairly taxes the poor. Palmetto has a new toll. It used to be the only way to drive if you can’t afford tolls. Now we can’t escape the cost. This is no problem if you are well off. But what about single mothers who must drive to make a living?  If you are on a single income trying to make ends meet this is just another burden. Meanwhile, developers are making money on new housing projects while being charged nothing to cover the needed cost of expanding road service. Instead that cost is falling on the backs of the poor. This petition calls for the elimination of tolls from the Palmetto and a reduction in fees on the turnpike. The tolls already collected are enough. Any further road improvement should be paid for by developer fees and an income tax on those in the top 25% of income earners. Being a single mom on $30k per year is impossible. We cannot afford anymore. We need relief NO MORE TOLLS!
