Subject: Request to Discontinue Summer Vacation Classes for Grades 10 and 12 Due to Extreme Heat Conditions

Respected Ma’am,

We, the students of Grades 10 and 12, would like to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern regarding the continuation of summer vacation classes during the current extreme weather conditions.

The heat levels have become increasingly severe, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C and the “feels like” temperature going as high as 41°C by the time school ends at 11:00 a.m. These conditions are very uncomfortable for students.

Many students are already experiencing health issues such as heatstrokes, migraines, severe headaches, dehydration, and exhaustion on a daily basis after school. The situation becomes even more concerning considering that a large number of students commute by walking, cycling, or using public transport such as line buses. Traveling home under such harsh sunlight significantly increases the risk to their health and safety. We would also like to draw attention to the additional difficulty faced by female students due to the mandatory uniform coat. Wearing this extra layer in such extreme heat significantly increases discomfort.

We would also like to respectfully submit that the proposed adjustment in school timings from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. may not sufficiently address the issue at hand. Even during the current 9:25 a.m. break, students are unable to step out of shaded areas due to the intensity of the sun. The heat at 10:30 a.m. remains nearly as severe as at 11:00 a.m., making such a change ineffective in ensuring student safety.

We understand the importance of academic preparation, especially for board classes. However, the rising heat is making it very difficult to remain in class for continuous hours . Therefore, we sincerely and humbly request the management to reconsider the decision and discontinue the summer vacation classes.

We hope you will take this matter into serious consideration and act in the best interest of the students.
