"Gazebo Park" is located on Smithtown Blvd, (Route 16), adjacent to the Smithtown Library-Nesconset Branch, and across from the Nesconset Plaza in Nesconset, NY.  This area is home to a playground, Sprinkler Park, walking trail, Dog Park, and countless athletic fields.  Several community events, and concerts, many  of which are  sponsored by the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce, occur here. Families trying to access the Gazebo, the dog walk trails, the jogging trail and neighboring park are forced to cross the busy street when parking at The Nesconset Plaza.  The Nesconset Plaza is located on the opposite side of the road from all these facilities and provide the majority of the parking area for families with children looking to ride their bikes around the gazebo.  Smithtown Blvd ( Route 16) has no traffic light or pedestrian crosswalk area for citizens to get from the parking lot to the gazebo and neighboring park. This petition is for the installation of a traffic signal at the entrance to Nesconset Plaza on Smithtown Blvd, (Route 16)  located directly across from the park entrance and will allow safe crossing for citizens wishing to access the park.
