Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust serves a diverse population who simultaneously have a range of specific dietary requirements, not limited to, halal, kosher, vegetarian and vegan. The Trust employ a large number of Muslim medics, AHPS, nurses and other professions who have a halal food dietary requirement. This petition is for a halal Subway to replace the current Subway.

There are a total of three Subways in and around Romford town centre and one on site. And there are very little halal food options available locally. With regards to Subway, none of their outlets in Romford are halal. Other areas such as Seven Kings, Ilford, Barking and Stratford have halal subways and provide halal food for the diverse population it serves so it is a shame there is not one by/in the Hospital considering there are two close by.

The Hospital trust is committed to their diversity and equality policy, and so by considering this petition and lobbying for one halal Subway would only support this policy. The muslim staff want the Hospital Trust and Sodexho to lobby intensely with the Subway Franchise to make one of their in-house outlets serve halal food. We hope this petition will make the first of the biggest food franchise to become halal.

We also call on them to increase their halal and kosher food offering across sites. 
Ensure the limited outlets that do serve halal food currently are clearly advertised.

The trust say their key value is “putting their staff first in everything they do” and that our trust's “signature strength is our diversity”. So let’s start by putting the basic needs of our diverse staff first, by having the Subway serve halal meat.
