Athule Zilwa started this petition to Students Without Funding

The aim behind this petition is to get feasible feedback from the NSFAS Team, I will be brief but hopefully descriptive enough for everyone to understand. I myself am a First Year Student at the NMU institution of Higher Learning. The issue is I have no funding, I did try apply for funding in 2020 but NSFAS gave me the feedback that I was already on their database and I could not Apply for this current academic year.

Keeping the Story short, I did my Matric in 2019 and I was approved for funding but in 2020 I could not study due to personal life problems, as such i took a Gap year and I am now registered at a University. I qualify for Funding, but My NSFAS status is stuck on the 2020 Annual Cycle which I did not study during and never registered, my status is " Awaiting Registration Data From institution " and I assumed I would be allocated funding since I could not submit an Appeal since apparently an Appeal is only submitted by a person who was either previously funded but failed or whose application was not approved.

I know for a Fact that I am not alone on that issue my Cousin much like me has the problem, though he is admitted at the WSU institution of Higher Learning, We have sent countless emails to the NSFAS offices and all were in vein, We've tried calling, Texting on Social Media but we are left on seen.

I plead with all those who have an issue similar to ours to sign this petition, it may not make much of a difference but at least he who fails after trying is better than he who gives up without attempting. I hope this gets the Proposed audience's eyes, please let us be one and try this one last push as some of us have already dropped out due to fearing the possibility of having huge amounts of money as their debts towards their universities I myself being one of those that have a huge debt already.
