Whitworth Sodexo's return to unlimited swipes

Whitworth Sodexo's return to unlimited swipes
The Issue
We demand Sodexo's Whitworth branch to bring back the old meal plan structure from the 2019-2020 school year. The current swipes per week mean we pay more money for less food. These new meal plans were implemented in a period of economic hardship for students, with many students wrestling with the financial damages from the COVID-19 pandemic.
We also demand a price freeze on the meal plans going into the 2021-2022 school year. Whitworth has increased the cost of meal plans while implementing policies that have resulted in students getting less food disproportionately harming students from lower economic backgrounds. These students are the ones who cannot afford to seek out other sources of food and simultaneously are being given less food from Sodexo due to its new swipes per week structure.
According to a survey our USAS branch conducted 66% of students believe they don't have enough swipes per week and 93.6% of students aren't comfortable with the amount they pay for their meal plan and
If enacted our demands would ensure that every Whitworth student would receive adequate and equitable food services.
