University Of Lincoln: Go Online
University Of Lincoln: Go Online
The Issue
University of Lincoln students; rife with worry and stress as Covid 19 gets worse and worse on campus. With over 50% having tested positive or self isolating (in Cygnet Wharf alone) students are concerned for their health, and the implications seminars are having on a student and their need to self isolate. This attacks students mental health; with 36 students and one member of staff testing positive last week alone- cases rising 130% from the week prior. Students are forced to go to classes for their attendance records- even though the majority are being told just days later they need to stay inside for 14 days. Suicide rates have dramatically risen not only in Lincoln, but around the country at university; and with 1 in 4 students with anxiety and depression face to face classes right now, are not acceptable. We are petitioning to end face to face seminars until cases have significantly decreased: and when more structure surrounding the virus and its rules at university have been worked out. We think this is ideal for not only students safety, but for the health of local residents in Lincoln. We need to be in this together- and get through this, safely and kindly together. The world is full of suffering, we don't need to make it any worse: here is to ending face to face sessions for students at Lincoln.
