Over the years, the CEAC body has been known to organize events that have in some way, shape or form targeted Women students. There is a culture of Rape and other forms of violence against Women that has been silent for too long. Recently, the Guild reinstated the former Faculty of Social Sciences Representative Jovaughn Bailey as the new CEAC. This selection has proven problematic due to Mr. Bailey’s view on Sexual Harassment towards Women which he has openly voiced on Social Media. The students of the UWI see this as a slap in the face of Women who have undergone tumultuous situations of rape, sexual harassment, kidnapping etc on the university campus and sees it as a blatant opportunity to silence women. This petition serves to remove Jovaughn as CEAC and reopen the position or instate the candidate with the second highest number of votes.
