Open East Stroudsburg University for the Spring 2021 Semester!
The Issue
With the ongoing pandemic, it is understandable on the reasoning behind another possible semester of remote learning. However, throughout the pandemic, many businesses, organizations, facilities, and even other colleges and universities reopened. Most public school districts reopened and they struggle financially compared to colleges and universities such as East Stroudsburg. East Stroudsburg University has the funding, safety equipment and protection, and facilities needed to reopen. The university sent all students a mask that were intended to be distributed on move-in day, the tables in Dansbury Commons have already been properly social distanced and safe to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, and social distancing guidelines were put into place. All for the safety of the students, staff, and faculty; however, most of the latter are not present on campus. Additionally, students mental health has been drastically impacted. Sixteen long weeks staring in front of computer for multiple hours a day and just about seven days a week is draining. Many have developed a lack of motivation and feel disconnected with their university and in their courses. A large number of students are struggling academically since they do not have the resources at their palm of their hands. ESU, if you claim to be #WarriorStrong, please make the right decision and give your students their college lives back, for most this is the best four years of their entire lives and they are missing the experience.
Strength in numbers is a very real thing. If you love your university and miss being at what most consider home, please sign this petition and share across all of your social media accounts, send to your friends, family, whoever you feel may care and would like to help. Let our voices be heard loudly, and not just through a Zoom call! #OurHome
