Jonathan Oatman started this petition to Students of WHMS

It has recently been announced that the 7th and 8th grade Accelerated Math teacher at Wood Hill Middle School will soon have a "permanent substitute teacher," per the request of several parents and the head staff of the school. However, me and several other of his students wish to continue being taught under him. This petition is to raise awareness that his students like him as a teacher, and the way he teaches. This petition has been created in hopes that, with enough signatures, we can convince the principal of our school to allow him to continue teaching us. I've asked a few of my classmates, and we've made a list of reasons why we like him as our teacher. His teaching style allows us to move at our own pace and is very stress-free. It allows us to focus without moving ahead too fast or too slow. Some people need more time on different lessons, and some people need less time. We all move at different speeds. It allows us to look back on what we've learned in the past without having to physically contact a teacher, which is especially important with students learning from home. He's, in my opinion, the most helpful math teacher I've ever had. Some teachers that I've in the past had decided that the best way to answer a question asked by a student is to say something along the lines of "You know this," or "You should understand how to do this already." But his answers are actually, well, helpful. So please consider the fact that parents aren't the ones who should decide if a teacher is helpful or not. They aren't the ones actually learning in the class. This should be up to us students. And we wish to continue learning under him.
