Replace Washers and Dryers in Ave Maria Laundry Rooms

Replace Washers and Dryers in Ave Maria Laundry Rooms
The Issue
Doing laundry at school has become more of an inconvenience than it needs to be because of the the damaged washers and dryers that go unattended. More people have to share a small amount of appliances because many of them experience breakdowns, making it more of a timely process to do laundry. These machines have even damaged several student's clothes with grease stains.
Everyone pays a $50 fee per semester to use the laundry facility. Averaging the cost per load for washing and drying combined at $1, if everyone in the dorm were to do their laundry once a week for the 9 month school year, the total cost would be slightly over $20,000. This leaves a large excess in the budget. (In the girls dorm for example, 600 residents provide a $60,000 budget).
Replacing all of the appliances included in the laundry room is accomplishable with the remainder of the budget. In the Megadorm for example there are 18 washers and 16 dryers, which to replace with new $600 appliances would still only cost $20,000. That means the cost of operation and replacing appliances is covered in a single years budget. This could also provide coverage for the labor fee.
All these calculations are proportioned to the costs in the boys dorms, which is a similar ratio of residents to appliances. The same proposed plan would be successful with their budget.
