We need to mandate masks again at Minnetonka High School. The COVID variant Omicron is causing cases to significantly spike, as well as causing many students and staff to stay home and quarantine. I am creating this petition because the school board did not change the school’s “Safe Learning Plan” last Friday (1/7), which commenced due to the spike in cases, and the school is still “highly suggesting” students to wear masks and stay home if they are feeling sick. Unfortunately, this is not going to help, as COVID cases are still rising every day. I am aware mandating masks is not everyone’s favorite idea, but it could hinder the daily ever-fast-growing cases. If we can get the school board to mandate masks again, we can hopefully avoid going back to e-learning, the deterioration of mental health, and having another class graduate online again. Parents, students, staff, please sign so we can keep Minnetonka High School students and staff safe and in school. 

As of Wednesday January 12, there are 218 reported active student cases and 15 reported active staff cases.
