Homestead has had a two block schedule for two entire trimesters now. Students and teachers have both been heavily impacted by the change to two blocks this year, but we have embraced the change. Students have adapted and overcome the schedules, and teachers have also. Teachers had to chamge the way they teach, their lesson plans, and how their classrooms operate for this year. Changing the schedule again will only make things worse for everybody. Teachers will have more stress put on them; they will need to redo their lesson plans and reconfigure their classrooms. Students will be forced into a change that is undesirable and pointless. After all, if Homestead’s curriculum is truly for our preparation to go to universities and other higher learning institution, then why wouldn’t you mimic a college environment? The two block sustem is similar to the way college courses are scheduled. After students leave Homestead and attend universities, wouldn’t you want them to be prepared and used to the educational environment? Keep the two block schedule! There is no valid reason to reconfigure the entire school day for one trimester.
