Get rid of the dresscode at SOTA
The Issue
It has come to my attention that our school, that was made for us to express our differences and different unique styles, art, fashion, etc. Has now made a very strict dresscode that prohibits everyone from basically wearing what us normal sota students wear. Saying "The way a child dresses affects the way they learn" Though this may be true, it takes away our freedom for us to truly express ourselves. We are growing human beings who NEED to express ourselves, to learn, to find ourselves, and that was what SOTA is supposed to help with, to help you grow and learn, to be a place to express who you are. Taking a students right to express that is not what SOTA is about. We thrive as a community over our different styles, we understand and connect more when we feel more comfortable when we are in something that makes us feel complete. We are all different, and as teens we deserve to express that without being punished for it. When we feel comfortable with ourselves, it's helps us think better. The problem is not the outfits we wear, it's the teachers that are hired, home issues, mental issues, drug use, etc. Not outfits and accessories. Let's get this dresscode changed and GET OUR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION BACK!!!!
