The University of New Brunswick is currently funding and encouraging students and faculty to use databases and programs that include AI models. While the school claims that they are using AI responsibly, it is my belief that this is an impossible feat. AI negatively impacts the world in several disciplines. It is out of environmental, economic, and social concern that I am making this petition to convince the faculty of UNB to step away from these AI models, and turn their students to resources that the university should be funding instead (Library services, academic accommodations, writing center, student tutors, etc).
