Recently, a post by a student went viral on twitter exposing the mistreatment that they faced by a professor at New Paltz, Anne Roschelle. 

The student, Skye, emailed the professor about a packet being $40 rather than $26. Skye then suggested that using Blackboard could help make the classes’ materials and content more inexpensive and ACCESSIBLE to all students. Especially since this was a course focused on poverty and homelessness. However, Professor Roschelle forwarded Skye’s message and said “check out this entitled student - ballsy” but the professor accidentally forwarded to Skye and not the intended person. 

This shows the lack of professionalism of the professor, and undermines the helpfulness of Skye. An educator should not be speaking about a student like this, and should not be the chair woman of the department if they are speaking like this but also not putting their research and education into practice. 

Skye did reply, calling out the unprofessionalism and even dropped the class due to the professors disgusting actions. All of what Skye said was valid, but the professor replied belittling the student and even trying to claim Skye was the one being rude. 

We need accountability from this professor because what they did and said was disrespectful and they should not be an educator if they gossip about students. Help and sign this petition to have New Paltz see the mistreatment and have the professor be accountable.
