Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident in Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet, where students face daily risks navigating busy roads around Camp 6 Elementary School and Evelio Javier Memorial National High School.

The lack of pedestrian lanes in these areas is a critical safety issue. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29 years. In the absence of sufficient pedestrian infrastructure, students and school staff are exposed to the dangers of vehicles speeding through the school zones, challenging their safety and wellbeing.

Pedestrian lanes are essential for ensuring the safety of everyone, particularly schoolchildren who walk to and from school each day.
