The effects are profound, with victims often facing anxiety, depression, and even PTSD as a result of sustained online attack. Louisiana's current laws do not adequately protect its citizens from these threats. Despite the significant psychological and emotional damage inflicted by online harassment, existing legislation fails to effectively deter or punish offenders. Many perpetrators hide behind fake accounts, leaving victims feeling helpless and without recourse. Strengthening these laws would serve as a deterrent and provide law enforcement with the proper tools to protect victims and hold offenders responsible.
