Strengthen Harassment Laws and Hold Bullies Accountable

The Issue

I am currently dealing with a stalker named John Trevor Jessup, from douglasville Georgia. The ongoing issue of confronting online bullies and cowards stops with me, hopefully!

All bullies are cowards, and the laws surrounding harassment should be much tougher to protect victims and deter offenders.

Harassment in any form, whether it is in-person stalking, VOIP abuse, or any other form of unwanted contact, inflicts severe emotional and psychological damage on its victims. Shockingly, a study by the Cyberbullying Research Center shows that over 34% of individuals have experienced cyberbullying in their lifetime, with numbers consistently on the rise. Despite these alarming statistics, current laws are inadequate and allow perpetrators to get away with mere slaps on the wrist.

Therefore, I propose a significant change in policy: introduce a financial compensation for victims ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, funded through fines levied on their harassers. By hitting bullies where it hurts the most—their wallets—we can create a strong deterrent against this cowardly behavior.

Moreover, our legal system must be equipped to impose serious consequences on perpetrators, ensuring that they face not just financial ramifications but also legal accountability for their actions. Implementing stricter laws and harsher penalties will not only help in bankrupting the bullies but will also encourage the victims to stand up against their aggressors without fear.

This change is about empowerment, justice, and ensuring that the voices of the victims are heard and respected. Let us channel our inner cobra kai and humble these bullies to foster a safer, more respectful community for everyone.

Sign this petition to urge our lawmakers to review and reinforce the legislation surrounding harassment and cyberbullying, ensuring a more just system for victims and severe consequences for offenders. Together, we can make a difference.
