The Issue

Living through abusive situations at a young age is a harsh reality many children face, and it's something I've known all too well. Though I come across as just a shy person looking for a little comfort, the truth is there’s a world of pain behind this demeanor. What I’ve witnessed and been through isn’t just my story; it’s a cry for help for countless children who are caught in abusive environments. It’s time for Canada to step up and ensure our children are better protected from abuse.

Child protection laws in Canada need to be strengthened to truly safeguard the vulnerable among us. While I might make light of my own situation, pretending it doesn’t hurt, the fact remains that abuse is not something any child should endure. We need more robust systems and legal measures to prevent and respond to child abuse—systems that not only protect but also empower children to find their voice and seek help.

Every child should feel safe and secure, free from the fear of mistreatment. It is imperative to intensify the existing legal frameworks and policies, ensuring they reflect the real situations children face. Enhancing training for child protection officers, improving reporting mechanisms, and increasing public awareness are vital steps that can lead to meaningful change.

By signing this petition, you're advocating for a future where children, like myself and countless others, don’t have to pretend everything is okay when it clearly isn’t. Let's call on the Canadian government to prioritize strengthening child protection laws, creating an environment where no child has to suffer in silence. Please sign and support this crucial movement for change.

I want Foster Care systems to be so much less scary for the future generations and children to go to. I want the system to stop failing children, so often my goal isn’t for donations, but at least enough signatures to be able to make some real change, for enough people to care about children and how they are treated every single day. both verbal and physical abuse, has such a strong impact on children, especially with their young developing brains. it’s time we start giving a better environment to the younger generations, bring them into this world, knowing that they are safe, loved and supported. I have heard so many stories of teens and kids who have been through unimaginable things and I’ve heard it so many times it almost feels normal. I personally have had CPS in my life since I was three years old and nothing has ever happened. I have had my face bruised completely on one side in ninth grade and the torture every day did not end just as it hasn’t ended for so many of us, young kids, preteens and teenagers. The breaking glass, the bruises, being put down, neglected by the same people who say they love and want us, isn’t normal.
we are deserving of love, patience, kindness, support, and time. I have had to stay home alone since I was eight years old I lived in an abusive household, where my stepfather was a drug dealer and I always heard   “There’s nothing that they can do because there isn’t any bruises” as every day went on every pressure point every mean comment every cop call eventually I got out. I lived at a woman’s shelter when I was eight years old after staying at a motel. and I currently live in Canadian housing, unfortunately, getting out of one bad environment was not the end. My mother never took me to school, my grandmother eventually took me in with my mom so I could get to school. and I later learned my ABCs and numbers in third grade as a result. I have made a remarkable comeback and it is due to me and myself only. rarely did I have any support and if I did, it was from outside of my home. My mother calls me her guinea pig, test, subject, as she attempts to learn how to parent and I currently as 17 haven’t gotten anything from my baby bonus, including food. I now pay for my own food, I’m only 17. And I have had a huge contribution to raising my sisters. Staying at home with the kids so my mom can come home at 5 AM from the club, only to be screamed at constantly, to be told I can’t speak back. I want help, support change.  I want kids to know finding drugs laying around as I have at 8 years old isn’t okay. Love exists, but unfortunately, so many of us have lived without it. please be the change we need to see
