Streamline the PIP appeal process

The Issue

I have multiple sclerosis and cluster headaches which have turned my life upside down

I used to be a fit person, able to be an active member of the emergency services and now I am facing having to give up the frontline and have even been entered into the I'll health retirement process.

Despite all of this and the fact that the headaches can cripple me on a regular basis for two or three hours I have been refused PIP at first application and mandatory reconsideration.

I have taken it to the appeal system in December but have been told it could take a months to get it to the appeal.

I originally applied in July last year so by the time I do get to the appeal tribunal it will likely be over a year since I applied.

Other people suffering with MS have already been waiting eleven months since the applied for an appeal tribunal and this is outrageous that people have to wait that long without the support and reassurance that being granted PIP would bring.

These appeals should be prioritised because if the appeals tribunal grant the PIP it's a massive payment, but if it's a no or if the person's disability has got worse then they have to restart the process all over again and lose any back pay they would have gained.

The process needs streamlining and speeding up to be fair to disabled people
