STRAYS FREE-CAVITE CITY: A Cat Pound
The Issue
It is sad to see stray animals, particularly cats and dogs, harmed, abused, neglected and killed, for reasons they tend to create much noise, rummage for food, fight with each other and multiply fast, when in heat --all these, basically, are because they aren't neutered or spayed (hindi kapon).
I realized that controlling their population would somehow, help solve this problem, so I started sending community cats (strays/those taken cared of, but whose owners are not capableof having them undergo the procedures due to financial reasons) ligated.
I mainly only raise funds though online selling. Sometimes, I call for donations, and thank God for families and friends who also support my causes. However, as life is getting more difficult nowadays, people prioritizes putting food on their tables first. Aside from this, I am getting lots of messages asking for help not only to have their pets neutered/spayed, but also for kittens to be adopted or talk to some people to stop them from throwing the poor kittens and puppies to far places. Shelters can no longer accomodate additional heads, they have so much on their plates (rescuing, helping other shelters, etc)
Strays are everywhere, thus going out, especially to people fond of animals, now becomes too stressful. Seeing cats and dogs in poor appearance is so disheartening
I thought it would help if we can convince our new mayor to make our dog pound active again and, this time, also consider having a cat pound, where the strays can be brought, then have them neutered/spayed (kapon), as well as be given anti-rabies vaccines. And when they recover, can be posted for adoption. This way, we can control overpopulation, prevent animal cruelty and promote responsible pet ownership.
Imagine living in a city free of poor strays, that is just something noteworthy and noble. Afterall, all life matters and it is one of our purpose, as humans, to take care of other living creatures.
I hope we stand together for this cause. Please show your support by signing and
pledging to donate PhP 10.00 (starting fund for the strays' foods, other nutrition needs and part of their ligation) OR
adopting one, once they are already ready for releasing.
I pray to gather at least 500 signatures and hopefully, PhP 50,000 starting fund to present the proposal to Mayor Chua and his council.
Please let us do our part to make our city a nicer place to live in.
