Strathcona: Protect RT-3 Zoning - Stand Against Proposed Re-zoning of 441 E. Pender St.

Hello Friends & Neighbours, 

The proposed six-story, 65 micro-suite building planned for the lot at 441 E. Pender St. is contrary to the goals and policy objectives for Strathcona. The RT-3 zoning, formed to protect our residential district's unique character and heritage, is crucial to maintaining community identity & safety. We urge the local authorities to reject the proposed re-zoning of 441 E. Pender St. and to preserve the integral fabric of our neighbourhood. This is a critical moment for residents to unite and safeguard our community's unique character and adhere to community planning initiatives.   • The built form is incompatible for the Site and Strathcona’s RT3 zoning & neighbourhood
  • This Project  does not advance any of the City’s current policy initiatives for Strathcona
  • This development is insensitive to safety / public realm concerns
    for seniors, residents and children
  • Trusted “good-neighbour” operators are crucial for social housing in family-oriented  residential areas
  • The DTES Plan is currently up for debate. Permanent CD1 Rezoning should be paused
