Acknowledge ALL art, academic and extra curricular groups in SHS Yearbook
The Issue
The 2017 Strasburg High School Yearbook, of Strasburg Virginia was nothing more than an anger causing disappointment to parents and students who participate in the arts, academics and even sports. This has been a trend of recent years, which culminated in the current yearbook being ultimately unacceptable to many. Those students who worked hard on the yearbook should be proud of their creativity, but need to know it left much to be desired. There is more to the high school experience than social trends and popularity.
No team or group photos were taken of extra curricular activities, academic groups or clubs. Chorus, marching band, orchestra and many other music and art programs along with clubs were not acknowledged as even existing.
Instead, pages of snapchat photos and topics such as "whose eyebrows were good", and other pop culture and unimportant subjects were featured, with large pictures, filler and full page articles of irrelevant material.
The sports teams were not shown as full teams, but a few pictures of select individuals were the representatives of the sports. Incorrect information was also present, and many student names misspelled.
We as parents and students want the traditional yearbook format back. We want acknowledgements and photos of the achievements and involvement of our students published in the year book. We want to see ALL our clubs, teams and art programs. We WANT to know who EVERY member of EVERY activity was, and see teams and groups as a whole. We want to know what happened in the school, not an entire page of what student x wore or changed about their look.
Make our hard earned money we pay for an EXPENSIVE piece of memorabilia count, and be a proud representation of our students and campus happenings!
