Since season one and beyond, many hints have been given throughout the seasons that Will is LGBTQ+. Some fan theories also claim that Mike fits into the community as well, though it’s not confirmed or as easily hinted as Will’s sexual orientation. Many fans started to ship Byler (Will and Mike’s ship name) after season two began streaming in October 2017. This is because we got to see more of their bond and how close they genuinely are. Thousands of fans are curious to see if Will would ever come out / confess his feelings for Mike, and are also curious to see if Mike will come to a realization that he’s had feelings for Will too. In season four, those in the Byler community would love to see Mike and Will form a romantic relationship. Not only would it make sense due to the repetitive hints previous seasons have given off, but it would also give great LGBTQ+ representation to viewers. It would give viewers in the community main characters to look up to. It would make headlines, which will also help boost views, too. It also kind of proves the fact that not all “main ships” on TV and movies are going to be “canon” or “endgame”, Mileven (Mike and Eleven) for example.
