ZocDoc continues to block patients in New York with federally funded insurance from using its website to book appointments with doctors, such as Medicare and Medicaid, thereby discriminating against the elderly and people with disabilities, qualifying factors for Medicare, and also discriminating against children, aged 19 and under, qualifying age for Child Health Plus plans by Medicaid. Since federal law prohibits ZocDoc from charging booking fees for patients with these insurances, rather than just staying with the flat fee subscription model that previously permitted these patients to use its website, ZocDoc simply banned patients with Medicare and Medicaid insurance from using its website at all.
Now in an unprecedented move of greed with executing its new revenue model, ZocDoc has also banned veterans from using their Tricare insurance to book appointments with doctors. See attached screenshot. We had just honored our fallen veterans with Memorial Day Weekend, and in response, ZocDoc could not have further dishonored those who have dedicated their lives to serve our country by banning veterans in need of health care from using its website to find a doctor.
Shame on ZocDoc.
Send ZocDoc a message that what it is doing is just distasteful, if not downright illegal. Boycott using ZocDoc to book appointments. Just use their website to search for doctor availability and read the reviews, and then after picking a doctor, go to that doctor's website to book direct and cut out ZocDoc as the middleman.
