Stop YEP industrial development on Hedon's green space!

Stop YEP industrial development on Hedon's green space!
The Issue
A planning application has been made to develop the large field North West of Hedon (the former Hedon Aerodrome) into a 200-acre industrial site ("The Yorkshire Energy Park"). Some of the proposed industrial units will be 8 storeys high, and include a power station. The industrial site would eradicate the green open space between Hedon and Hull.
This green land is currently used to graze cattle, has been enjoyed by dog walkers and the community for many decades, is home to several endangered species of wildlife (including curlews, skylarks, and great crested newts), and crucially forms an important green barrier between the rural market town of Hedon and the industrial East of the city of Hull.
This land is not allocated for development within the ERYC "Local Plan", and just 4 years ago an overwhelming 96.5% of local residents voted against building on such land in the East Riding Boundary Referendum.
In addition, this land provides vital flood drainage protection for nearby communities, who have already experienced the devastation that floods can bring in recent years. The development would also bring a large increase in traffic, with the only main access road being the already highly congested A1033.
A separate application has been made by ABP to develop a further 450 acres of land just to the south of this area. This very small ward is being swamped with industry, and this 200-acre development is absolutely not necessary.
The paper version of this petition has already garnered 1000 signatures. All of the East Riding Councillors in the nearby wards, the local parish councils, and the MP for Beverley and Holderness all oppose this development.
To the ERYC Planning Officers, re Planning ref 17/01673/STOUTE, Land North West of Kingstown Hotel, Hedon: We, the undersigned, wish to object to this planning application on the grounds of increased flood risk, additional traffic, ecological disturbance, coalition of communities, the overwhelming rejection of development of this land by voters in the 2014 East Riding Boundary Referendum, the land not being allocated in the Local Plan, and the availability of alternative allocated land nearby.
