Stop Wycombe Abbey's Environmental Threat

Stop Wycombe Abbey's Environmental Threat
The Issue
The tranquillity and natural beauty of Raf Daws Hill, High Wycombe, are facing an unprecedented threat from Wycombe Abbey Girls School's new planning application (25_05971). As a resident deeply connected to this unique landscape, I feel compelled to voice my concerns about the lasting damage this development could inflict on our community and its environment.
The school's intent to build additional accommodation compromises the integrity of not just the landscape of this cherished area, but also the habitat of the local wildlife. Plans indicate that 57 trees, including several mature specimens vital for local biodiversity, are slated for removal. This not only disrupts the ecosystem, leading to potential habitat loss for various species but also subtracts from the charm and greenery we’ve long cherished.
Immediate impacts of such a development also include increased noise pollution and traffic congestion, which threatens the peaceful nature of our neighborhood. The prolonged construction period will bring heavy machinery and continuous disturbance, drastically altering the everyday life of residents who value the serenity and beauty currently provided by Daws Hill House.
Additionally, this development threatens our privacy and the scenic views we have grown to love. The removal of natural barriers and the erection of new structures will leave surrounding homes exposed, fundamentally changing the neighborhood's character.
Buckinghamshire Council must consider the cumulative impact on the local environment and community quality of life. Rather than proceeding with the development, alternatives that seek accommodation within the existing structures should be prioritized. Expanding facilities should not come at the cost of our environment, quality of living, or precious green spaces.
Your support in signing this petition can shift the council's perspective towards sustainable development and preservation of our community's unique environmental resources. Protect Daws Hill from irreversible harm by urging Buckinghamshire Council to revisit and reconsider this application. "}
