STOP Woodland Preserve at Foster Falls

The Issue

The proposed Woodland Preserve at Foster Falls development is an inappropriate and destructive use of a sensitive natural resource. The proposed development will cause irreversible damage to the Foster Falls property in Marion County Tennessee.

This proposed 60-90 home site crammed into 135 acres will irrevocably pollute the Fiery Gizzard Creek which feeds Foster Falls. The hikers that love to swim in the falls clear water will instead be swimming in sewage polluted waters. The site will turn beautiful natural areas thousands love to hike into just another gated subdivision. A gated subdivision that steals this beautiful natural area from the thousands that enjoy it each year.

Woodland Preserves intention is to set up a gated community adjacent to the Foster Falls area of South Cumberland State Park. The proposed community will be a threat to the park that is visited by thousands of tourists each year.

The Fiery Gizzard Creek is a creek and will be easily contaminated and irreversibly damaged by the septic tank and sewage produced by numerous houses. The area proposed for this community is pristine forest and is not suitable for any housing development.

The area is currently served by a very small volunteer fire department that is responsible for approximately 700 homes. They cannot be expected to be responsible for any large group of new homes. There would be no fire protection which is a hazard to all inhabitants.

This area is currently served by the Tracy City Water Department. Often there are notices regarding issues of concern with this water supply. There is also no guarantee this depart is large enough to supply numerous additional homes.

We are totally opposed to the building of this community and feel it will negatively affect the entire quality of life not only for the current residents but for all of the mountain population and the numerous tourists visiting the South Cumberland State Park.
