The Issue
Fenway Park is not only the beloved home of the Boston Red Sox, it is a national treasure, often referred to as one of the cathedrals of baseball.
Opened in 1912, it is the oldest stadium in Major League Baseball. Although there have been a lot of changes to "modernize" Fenway over the years (press boxes, Green Monster seats, etc.) and maximize the fan experience -- not to mention profits for the owners! -- the latest change this year is an energy-efficient LED field lighting system.
While the new lighting is wonderful for both the fans and the players, as well as the environment, something horrible is going on at Fenway when the hometown Red Sox hit a homerun (especially when they win a game in walk-off fashion:
For example:
To the Boston Red Sox management: while it is indeed exciting when the Red Sox hit a home run and win a game, PLEASE STOP WITH THE FLASHING LIGHT SHOW! Please, please, please stop...if not for those with photosensitive epilepsy and autism, consider that it diminishes the fan experience and cheapens the historic nature of attending a game at Fenway and even watching on TV.
