Stop water pollution now!

Stop water pollution now!
The Issue
I am writing to raise awareness of water pollution which happens every single day and is getting worse. According to developmentaid.org and quenchwater.com website, there are 14 billion liters everyday and 1.2 trillion gallons of wastewater that contain different bacteria and diseases being produced by the least developed nations. Water pollution is not only affecting water animals but also humans, thousands and millions of people are poor and aren't able to get good quality water because we are polluting lakes, rivers, and oceans. Scientists even predict that up to 1 in 3 people will be exposed to a high risk of water pollution in 2050 so that means that people will be linked to unsafe drinking water quality, poor sanitation, and poor hygiene.
Water pollution is everywhere. And according to worldvision.org one of them is in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where they lack 54% of basic water services. Unclean water is what many people in Congo use for cooking, drinking, and washing. Dirty water than leads to people getting exposed to diseases such as diarrhea and cholera, it can also affect children's energy and sometimes their very life.
Other than water pollution affecting humans, water animals are also very affected by water pollution. From petpedia.co it says that every year it is estimated that 100 million water animals die each year because of water pollution and about 1,000 species of marine animals are affected by ocean contamination. According to the Washington State University water pollution can hurt digestion, damage body parts, and make it difficult for them to swim. Water pollution can also affect their ability to grow and reproduce. Many plastics and trash contain oil which is a major part of water pollution or toxins that can make animals very sick and even die.
How can you help? There are many ways to help stop pollution. Some ways are by signing this petition, the more people sign this petition the bigger of a chance that it will be seen by a person that has the power to help stop water pollution. You can go to beaches, lakes, oceans etc. by yourself or with a group of people and pick up any trash that is seen, you might think that its not very effective but it can help a lot, and its better than it being stuck on a water animal or it being in the waste. Another way is to not put things like motor oil down the storm drain and instead take it to your local auto parts store. It's free! Lastly, mulch or compost grass or yard waste. Or, leave it in your yard if you can't compost. Don't blow leaves into the street. This clogs and damages storm drains. There are many more ways to stop this issue!
All the information about water pollution is very heartbreaking! But after learning about all this you should rethink some of your actions. We reuse, reduce, and recycle things. Lets start cleaning and stop polluting!
