Sign this petition against the opening of a McDonalds in Wanaka. 

This petition is directed at the Queenstown Lakes District Council with the goal of preventing resource consent for a Wanaka McDonalds.

As a community that prizes itself on its beautiful natural environment, McDonalds goes against  our core community value. This international fast food giant responsible for extensive food waste and pollution, does not belong in our beautiful home.

Additionally McDonalds will take away business and staff from local businesses, directing profit out of Wanaka. They also barely pay above minimum wage, and well below a living wage. With a housing shortage and high rent prices this is unsustainable for workers living in wanaka and will not contribute to the wellbeing of the community.

To preserve the natural beauty and sense of community that makes Wanaka stand out and be such a desirable place to live, we must support businesses that also align with these values.
