In 2025, Walmart made a staggering profit of $22.27 billion. Despite already accounting for 3% of the American GDP, it appears this isn't satisfactory for them. Walmart is set to implement "dynamic pricing," a practice that, at its core, is discriminatory. This model allows them to charge different prices based on any variable they choose—including, alarmingly, factors such as location and race. This means you might pay more for an item than your neighbor simply because of these arbitrary metrics. This is happening NOW. In select brick and mortar stores Walmart has already introduced these digital price tags. It is not limited to online purchases. Think about what this means not just for you, but for the economic health of our entire community. When prices are manipulated in this manner, fairness in the marketplace disintegrates. The consumer, who has collectively generated over $20 billion in profit for Walmart, deserves transparency and consistency. We shouldn't have to guess or worry about being overcharged because of where we live or other variables beyond our control. Walmart has no right to exploit their dominating market position to squeeze even more money from consumers through manipulative and discriminatory pricing schemes. Dynamic pricing is just the latest example of corporate overreach, and it's crucial that we stand against it. We are calling on Walmart to immediately halt their plans to implement dynamic pricing as well as ending this practice where it has already begun.
