Stop Vivint Door-to-Door Tactics

Stop Vivint Door-to-Door Tactics
The Issue
Vivint security representatives continue to regularly harass residents of The Commons in Richmond Hill, GA with their aggressive and intrusive door to door sales tactics. Residents have frequently noted late times at which Vivint reps have come to their door, well after dark and most notably as late as 8pm. Several residents over the past year have shared of uncomfortable situations in which the sales rep refused to accept a lack of interest, reportedly sought information as to what time someone else may be home they could speak to or what vehicle to look for in the driveway, or even numerous recounts of Vivint reps physically attempting to prevent residents from closing the door by reaching out to stop it or intentionally sticking their foot into the threshold.
The property owners association has communicated concerns multiple times to the city and police, contacted Vivint’s corporate offices, and relocated a “no soliciting” sign to a can’t-miss location. And yet this cycle continues every few months with wild excuses and stories from sales reps who refuse to accept that many in the community aren’t interested in their services, while making some feel truly unsafe with the aggressive tactics by several of these sales representatives.
A quick internet search on Vivint reveals how notorious they are for these tactics and other negative situations regarding their contracts and services. While some certainly have positive experiences with the provided services, the sales tactics of the company and/or the individual representatives within the local area are simply unacceptable. Clearly corporate has made no impact despite the expressed concerns, and the city of Richmond Hill needs to hear from more residents rather than simply the community POA.
Given the frequency and recurring nature of these issues specifically regarding Vivint, residents of The Commons would like to see the City of Richmond Hill, GA revoke and withhold future permits for Vivint to solicit new services across the community as a direct result of the behavior of their local door to door representatives.
