As a representative of Kinnelon High School, I'm here to say that there are concerned students. I am writing this petition because our beloved teachers are facing an unjust threat - layoffs. This issue is personal to me and many others in our school community who value the dedication and hard work of these educators.

In recent years, budget cuts have become a common occurrence in many schools across the country. However, it's alarming that these cuts often result in teacher layoffs despite their crucial role in shaping young minds. According to the National Education Association, such cuts can lead to larger class sizes and reduced student services which negatively impact the quality of education.

In Kinnelon specifically, we have already lost beloved teachers. It has disrupted our learning environment and diminish the sense of community within our school walls. These teachers are not just employees but mentors who inspire us every day with their passion for teaching.

We understand that budget constraints exist but believe there must be other ways to address them without compromising on quality education or disregarding the efforts of dedicated teachers.

We urge local decision-makers to reconsider these layoffs and explore alternative solutions that do not involve letting go of valuable educators. We ask for transparency about financial decisions affecting our schools and request active involvement from all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, and administrators in future discussions about budget allocations.
