Stop Unfair Taxes on Leased Properties in Karachi!

The Issue

Leased property buyers in Karachi are being wrongfully taxed like full owners—even though they don’t own the land. The Sindh government continues to collect transfer fees, property tax, and stamp duties on leased land, contradicting Pakistani law.

I bought a leased house in Karachi, thinking it would be like owning property. But when I asked for full ownership rights, I was told, ‘It’s just a lease!’ So why did I pay the same property tax as a freehold owner? This system is unfair, and I want the government to fix this!

Why are we paying full property taxes on leased properties when we don’t even own them? If a property is not fully owned, it should not be taxed like freehold property!

Thousands of homebuyers, investors, and businesses in Pakistan are being unfairly taxed on leased properties as if they are full owners. This is unjust, illogical, and financially burdensome.

We demand the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and Government of Pakistan to reform property taxation laws and stop charging full ownership taxes on leased properties!

📌 The Issue: Unfair Taxation on Leased Property

🔹 Leased property = NOT full ownership
🔹 Yet, the government collects FULL ownership tax!
🔹 No clear legal rights, yet full tax liability? This is unfair!
🔹 Even if lease tenure expires, owners don’t get compensation for past taxes!

If the government doesn’t recognize leased property as full ownership, why does it charge taxes as if we fully own it? This is a legal contradiction that must be corrected!

---

🚨 Our Demands:

✅ Stop taxing leased properties like freehold properties
✅ Introduce a fair, reduced tax category for leased properties
✅ Provide legal clarity on leased vs. freehold property rights
✅ Refund excess taxes collected unfairly over the years
