We call on Manchester Airports Group to review and remove the current drop-off and pick-up charges at Manchester Airport, or at minimum introduce a reasonable free grace period for drivers.

The current system places an unfair burden on passengers and their families, particularly due to the requirement for online-only payment, which can be confusing, inaccessible, and easy to miss. Many drivers are being fined simply for short stays or honest mistakes.

This disproportionately affects elderly individuals, those without access to smartphones, and visitors unfamiliar with the system. Essential travel—such as dropping off or collecting family members—should not result in excessive or unexpected penalties.

Other airports across the UK provide fairer options, including free short-stay periods or clearer payment methods. Manchester Airport should adopt a more reasonable and accessible approach.

We urge Manchester Airports Group to:

Introduce a free grace period for drop-off and pick-up
Provide clearer signage and fairer payment options
Review and reduce excessive penalty charges

This change would create a fairer, more transparent system for everyone using the airport.
