The Issue

The issue is that students in our school are experiencing unfair criticism, including harsh, biased, or public feedback that embarrasses them, lowers their self-confidence, creates unnecessary stress, and prevents them from learning and improving effectively, which negatively affects both their academic performance and overall well-being.

Emotional appeal

Every student wants to learn, grow, and do their best, but when words are used to embarrass or judge rather than guide, it makes us feel small, unworthy, and afraid to try. We deserve to be treated with respect and understanding so that we can develop our skills, confidence, and love for learning without fear. Please hear our voices and help make our school a place where encouragement and fairness guide every step of our education.

Proposed solution

1. Constructive Feedback: Teachers should provide feedback in a positive and constructive manner, focusing on ways students can improve rather than pointing out faults harshly.

2. Private Discussions: Criticism that could embarrass a student should be delivered privately instead of in front of the class.

3. Clear Guidelines: The school should establish clear and fair guidelines for evaluating students and giving feedback.

4. Open Communication: Students should have the opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification about feedback without fear of judgment.

5. Encouragement and Support: Teachers should balance criticism with encouragement, recognizing students’ efforts and achievements to foster confidence and motivation.

Call to action

We respectfully urge the school administration and teachers to take immediate action to address this issue. Please implement fair, constructive, and respectful feedback practices so that every student feels supported, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Let us work together to create a school environment where learning is empowering, not discouraging.
