Stop Unethical Actions of UC Davis TAPS

Stop Unethical Actions of UC Davis TAPS
The Issue
Students of the University of California, Davis have experienced immoral and frequent ticketing and regulations from TAPS without regard to students' mental health, financial stability, and overall wellbeing.
In a recent study, over 50% of UC Davis students have experienced a form of depression that led to inability to function in their day to day. TAPS is continuing to operate, ticketing students and placing more strain on them financially and emotionally amidst demanding times as the students attempt to navigate the harsh realities of this top tier university.
When students have reached out to staff, faculty, and the TAPS system asking for assistance and grace, it has not been granted. Instead, the University of California, Davis and TAPS have turned a blind eye to the corruption and impact they have on their students. TAPS has an opportunity to help students that it has not taken, and instead has shown no grace or proven through its actions any fundamental understanding of basic human decency.
We, the students of the University of California, Davis are petitioning alternate options and solutions to the current immoral institution and policies enacted by UC Davis TAPS.
---
An improvement of policy and actions by UCD TAPS would include, but is not limited to:
1. TAPS works to be aware and respectful of students' mental, financial, and overall health when issues are raised, and thus acts in ways that are supportive of students, such as granting grace and allowing for error in failing to meet TAPS expectations under certain circumstances (I.e. mental health crises, excessive stress and strain from school, personal life interferences, financial burden, etc) without harsh penalty.
2. TAPS enacts a "pay-per-quarter" or "one-time-payment" option for students which is both more cost efficient and convenient. This would allow students on campus at a lowered rate and save money, time, and energy compared to looking up location codes daily on ParkMobile and paying inflated prices for limited parking.
3. TAPS and the University of California, Davis create parking zones that are more cognizant of the number of students to staff ratio and increase lots / spots students are allowed to park in. Currently, the number of student to staff lots is very disproportionate and results in increased drive time and less opportunity for students to park as opposed to their faculty counterparts.
