The Issue

We, the residents of Downtown Miami and surrounding neighborhoods, are calling on the City of Miami to reconsider the approval of the Ultra Music Festival in its current location.

As a resident of Downtown Miami with a small child, this issue is deeply personal. During the festival, noise levels soar far beyond what is acceptable for a residential area. My child, like many others in the community, struggles to sleep or rest. This goes beyond inconvenience — it directly affects our health, well-being, and our basic right to a peaceful environment in our own home.

Beyond the noise, the festival takes over public spaces that residents rely on daily. Parks, playgrounds, and dog areas are completely closed for weeks, removing essential spaces for families to spend time outdoors. These areas are not optional — they are a critical part of daily life in a dense urban neighborhood.

In addition:

  1. Road closures and restricted access make it extremely difficult to enter or leave our homes
  2. The park is effectively unavailable for ~3 weeks, including setup and teardown
  3. After the event, the park is often left damaged, requiring months of restoration

This creates an unacceptable imbalance where a commercial event overrides the needs and rights of thousands of residents.

The economic benefits cited by festival organizers do not outweigh the ongoing disruption and distress caused to the community. Downtown Miami is a vibrant, family-oriented neighborhood, and events that disregard residents undermine its livability.

We are not opposed to cultural events. However, events of this scale must be held in locations that do not severely impact residential communities.

We urge the City of Miami to:

  1. Relocate Ultra Music Festival to a more suitable, non-residential area
  2. Or discontinue approval of the event in its current location
  3. Implement stricter regulations to protect residents if the event continues

Let’s prioritize the welfare of Downtown Miami residents and find a solution that respects both the community and the city’s cultural life.

Please sign this petition to support relocation or cancellation of Ultra Music Festival in its current location.
