Stop UK Government's Control Over Removal of Apple's ADP

The Issue

I'm writing as a concerned UK citizen who values privacy and the sanctity of personal data. The UK Government's enforcement of the removal of Apple’s Advanced Data Protection (ADP), an end-to-end encryption technology, under the Data Protection Act 2018, strikes me and many others as an imposing act against our will. Personal data should not be shared or accessed by any person, agency, nation, government, or security bureau without the explicit permission of the data owner. Neither myself nor my fellow UK nationals have given such permission.

This decision, which fundamentally impacts how our data is protected, was made without any consultation or voting process. It seems to blatantly undermine the democratic principles upon which our society stands. The ADP provides an essential safeguard for our personal conversations, financial details, and a myriad of other sensitive data, protecting us from potential cyber threats.

While we understand the government's need to secure the nation and investigate criminal activities, we believe there must be more appropriate methods. Methods that do not necessitate the potential compromise of every citizen's private data.

We need to ensure our voices are heard and our digital rights are recognized. Therefore, we call for immediate corrective action against this enforcement and the restoration of end-to-end encryption services like Apple’s ADP for the protection of UK citizens' data. Please sign this petition and take a stand against the unwarranted interference of privacy.
