The Issue

For $92 million, we could fund infrastructure projects, support schools, finance medical research, and rehire federal workers who are necessary for the government to operate efficiently.

Instead, this lavish spending is directed towards a parade that seems to be nothing more than a display of Trump's egotistical need for attention. It's alarming that he wants a parade that closely mirrors those of dictators, especially when this money could meaningfully contribute to sectors that urgently need it.

The proposed military parade, planned for June 14, 2025, coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, Flag Day, and Donald Trump's 79th birthday. While it's crucial to respect and celebrate our Armed Forces, such a parade seems like an unnecessary and extravagant expenditure. Using taxpayer dollars for what seems like a personal celebration that overwhelmingly focuses on boosting one individual's ego instead of genuinely honoring the military's service and sacrifices doesn't sit right with many Americans.

Donald Trump has made his disdain for those in military service crystal clear. He has called them losers and said doesn't understand why they would serve when there's nothing in it for them. He's cut funding for veterans, veterans medical care, and veterans hospitals. He's terminated thousands of veterans who went to work in the federal government after serving our country in the military, and he has removed our knowledgeable, seasoned senior military officers, replacing them with his unqualified blind followers.

There have been significant budget cuts impacting various sectors, including education, health, and public infrastructure. These areas have shown immediate needs for financial support. The $92 million intended for this parade could be redirected to reinforce these vital areas, offering long-term benefits and positively affecting millions of citizens.

In the past, similar instances have been critiqued for the misallocation of funds which could contribute to lasting improvements throughout the country. We have the opportunity here to prioritize and ensure the efficient and just allocation of taxpayer money, ensuring it goes towards the well-being and future of all citizens rather than a showy display.

This is exactly the type of waste that DOGE was supposed to be eliminating. Average Americans are economically hurting right now due to the rising costs of goods and services. We do not want $92 million of our taxpayer dollars squandered, used inefficiently, or diverted from necessary programs for a public display of flattery. Instead, those funds should be used to help our veterans, increase veteran benefits, and to continue the funding of necessary functions of our federal government.

Urging a policy change, we ask our representatives to reconsider this decision and not allocate funding for an unnecessary and extravagant display of ego. I implore you to sign this petition and demand a reassessment of these plans, so that we can direct our taxpayer dollars towards avenues that are necessary and impactful for the development and the prosperity of our communities.

Join us in advocating for a more sensible and responsible use of our national budget.
