Donald Trump’s media company just struck a $2.5 billion deal to buy bitcoin while he’s in the White House and shaping crypto policy.

This isn’t just bad optics. It’s a direct conflict of interest. Trump and his family are building a cryptocurrency empire while federal regulators, under his administration, are deciding how that entire industry will be governed.

The president’s private company, Trump Media & Technology Group, says it will hold bitcoin as a “treasury asset” and build crypto tools into Truth Social. Meanwhile, Eric Trump is co-founding new bitcoin startups. And Trump himself launched a memecoin called $TRUMP—just days before his inauguration.

No sitting president should be allowed to profit from industries they are actively regulating. This is a clear threat to public trust and democratic accountability.

We demand Congress launch an immediate ethics investigation into Trump’s crypto ventures and pass real rules to stop presidents from using public office for personal financial gain.
