Stop Triple Crown Corporation from Breaking their Promise to Lower Paxton Township

Stop Triple Crown Corporation from Breaking their Promise to Lower Paxton Township
The Issue
Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors,
We, the undersigned, express our strong opposition to the proposed development of apartment buildings on the 32 acres of green space dedicated to Lower Paxton Township by Triple Crown Corporation. This cherished green space has been promised to the community as part of the development agreement with Triple Crown Corporation. As a major developer in our area, we must hold Triple Crown accountable to the community.
Triple Crown Corporation initially committed to dedicating the land to the community as a condition of their permits and zoning approvals. Many homebuyers have relied on these promises, and additional development would not only betray the trust of the community but also have detrimental effects on the quality of life for residents in the surrounding areas.
Our concerns regarding the proposed development include and are not limited to:
1) Traffic Congestion: The construction of additional apartment buildings would worsen the already congested traffic in the area. The increased flow of vehicles poses a threat to the safety of homeowners and further exacerbates existing traffic issues caused from increase development, narrow roads, and lack of enforcement.
2) Overcrowding in Schools: Further development could lead to overcrowding in local schools, affecting the quality of education and resources available to our children. Our teachers are already asked to manage impossible classroom sizes and transportation limitations continue to impact the district. Further development will only worsen this problem.
3) Environmental Impact: The 32 acres of green space provide essential habitat for wildlife. The destruction of this green space would have irreversible consequences for the local ecosystem, impacting the flora and fauna that call it home. Further, many homeowners have already dealt with on-going drainage issues which have made many lots in the neighborhood unusable. The land is not suitable for further development which will only worsen the water drainage issues and cause further problems for the structures of our homes.
4) Lack of Accountability. Triple Crown Corporation has already formally agreed to dedicate the land to the township, a commitment that must be upheld. It is imperative that Triple Crown be held accountable for the promises made to our community. The community is already dealing with subpar management of facilities and roads, unfulfilled project commitments, and inadequate handling of community-associated fees. It is crucial that Triple Crown is held to the highest standards of accountability.
As such, we, the undersigned, believe that our community deserves better. We call on Triple Crown Corporation to honor their commitments to the community and preserve the green space dedicated to Lower Paxton Township, and on the Lower Paxton Township Supervisors to OPPOSE any alterations to the approved plan to dedicate all 32 acres to the township for their development into a park. Let us work together to protect the well-being, safety, and natural beauty of our community.
Thank you for your support.
