We are having a crisis in the Willis Independent School District. Yet another injustice has been served to queer kids in Willis. Our pursuit of happiness has been breached, and we aren’t having any more. 

Today I found out that WillisISD has banned the use of preferred names in the classroom. The reason for this is still unknown, but I should be able to find out soon. 

The usage of preferred names in a school setting is primarily used to keep a child comfortable in a learning environment. Being called a name that you don’t use is quite distressing. And I’m not seeing any benefits of denying access to a comfortable learning environment.
