What’s Going On

Trader Joe’s is illegally banning union literature from being distributed in break rooms. This is a long established right, stated plainly on the NLRB website, and confirmed last year in Apple vs. Communication Workers.

Break room posting is crucial for union organizers. Employees who don’t have access to other forms of information or who don’t want to speak to union organizers still have the right to get union updates and information. 

Who We Are

Trader Joe’s United is an independent union formed in 2022 in Hadley, MA.. In April of 2024, our store won a union election, making this the first unionized Trader Joe’s in Chicago! However, Trader Joe’s has refused to recognize the results and is purposefully dragging this process through a national court battle. Now they’re cracking down on communication inside the store and threatening store employees with discipline for exercising their rights.

What You Can Do

Please sign our petition! 

The undersigned demand Trader Joe’s:

Allow workers to distribute union literature in break rooms
Stop attacking workers rights in the court
Stop threatening union organizers with punishment
Stop firing union organizers

Talk about it!

Be curious and talk about this in the store. Trader Joe’s wants to pretend this union does not exist, 

and it is extremely helpful for union supporters to have customers ask them about it.
