The Issue

I am a resident of Tiverton, RI, and I live close to the proposed site for a construction and debris processing facility. This location isn't just close to many homes but also dangerously close to Stafford Pond and our local elementary school, putting our children directly in harm's way.

This planned facility poses numerous threats to our peaceful community. First and foremost, our town's drinking water is at significant risk of contamination from the processing operations. Studies have shown that similar facilities can leach harmful chemicals into nearby water sources, endangering the health and safety of residents.

Safety is another critical concern. The increased fire risk due to the combustible nature of debris materials could lead to devastating consequences, jeopardizing homes, schools, and local businesses. Imagine the constant threat looming over our heads, worrying if the next emergency will be a fire in our neighborhood.

Noise pollution is inevitable with the heavy machinery required at such sites. The serene ambiance that we cherish in Tiverton will be disrupted, affecting not just our quality of life but also the mental well-being of our children and elderly residents.

Traffic congestion will skyrocket on Fish Road with the influx of trucks transporting materials to and from the facility. Our roads are not built to handle this capacity, raising the potential for accidents and further straining our already aging infrastructure. This traffic increase is also bound to contribute to higher pollution levels, both atmospheric and acoustic.

Property values will likely diminish as potential homebuyers are deterred by the nearby industrial site, impacting our financial stability and the investments we've made in our homes.

The construction and debris facility jeopardizes our community's safety, environment, and way of life. We must urge the town council to reconsider this plan. Sign this petition to preserve the safety, peace, and economic stability of Tiverton. We need your support to protect our homes and health.
